How SpySecret Works

From username to results in three steps

1. You enter a username. Any public Instagram profile works. You don't log in to Instagram, and SpySecret never asks for an Instagram password.

2. The first scan saves a snapshot. SpySecret reads the profile's public following and follower lists and stores them as the baseline. This first scan is free. It can't reveal anything that happened before it ran.

3. Later scans look for differences. Each scan reads the first page of both lists, in the order Instagram returns them, and compares it with what is stored. New accounts become entries in your dashboard, dated by the scan that found them; the real follow happened at some point since the previous scan.

Instagram doesn't guarantee that this order is chronological. For profiles whose lists are longer than that first page, a new follow further down can show up later or be missed, and an account followed earlier can appear as new. Read results for long lists as what the scans detected, not as a complete log.

Scan schedule per plan

How quickly a change shows up depends on how often the profile is scanned:

• Free: one scan, once.
• Basic (€0.99 per week or €2.99 per month): up to 5 profiles, each scanned once a day.
• Pro (€8.99 per week or €29.99 per month): your main Spy profile about every hour, the other profiles once a day, plus up to four manual scans per day (the "Push Scan" button in the app).

What SpySecret shows

Basic covers the core: new follows (accounts the profile started following) and new followers (accounts that started following it). Pro adds four tools on top:

• Unfollow check: compares the saved following list with the current one and lists accounts the profile no longer follows. You run it manually; it becomes useful from the second day and works for profiles following up to 1,500 accounts.
• Gender estimate: guesses the gender of newly followed accounts from first names.
• Suspicion analysis: a score built from four signals in the follow data (see FAQ). It summarizes patterns and proves nothing about a person.
• Story viewer: shows the current stories of public profiles.

What SpySecret does not show

Several popular requests are beyond what any honest tool can do. SpySecret does not show who viewed your profile or your stories, which accounts stopped following you, last active or online status, likes, comments or DMs, story highlights, or anything inside a private account. It sends no push notifications either: new entries appear after the next scan.

Where the data comes from and where it is stored

SpySecret gets public profile data through a specialised third-party data service. It covers the username, profile picture, follower and following counts and the public lists. Your own Instagram account is never involved. How we handle personal data is described in our privacy policy.

Snapshots and detected changes are stored on servers in the EU while a profile is tracked and are deleted with your account. If your own public profile is being tracked, you can ask for the stored data about it to be deleted by writing to info@spy-secret.com. SpySecret is operated by Smart Trading AI GmbH in Linz, Austria.
