Instagram Following Tracker: See Who a Profile Newly Follows

What the following tracker shows

Each scan compares the public following list of the profile you entered with the snapshot saved last time. Accounts that weren't there before appear as new follows. The follower list gets the same treatment, so you also see new followers: accounts that started following the profile.

Every entry carries a detection time. It tells you which scan found the change, so the actual follow happened somewhere between that scan and the one before. On Basic that window is up to a day; for the main Spy profile on Pro it is roughly an hour.

How it works in three steps

SpySecret is a web app, so there is nothing to install. All you need to start is a username.

• Enter a username. Type the handle of a public Instagram profile on the SpySecret start page.
• Run the first scan. It's free and saves the profile's current following and follower lists as the starting point.
• Let the tracker compare. With a paid plan, SpySecret scans again on a schedule: Basic once a day per profile, Pro about every hour for your main Spy profile and daily for the others.

What you need (and what you don't)

You need the username of a public profile and a SpySecret account to keep tracking it. You don't need an Instagram account or password, and you don't have to follow anyone. SpySecret only reads lists that the profile has made public and sends the profile owner no notification.

Our terms allow personal use only and prohibit using SpySecret to harass or stalk anyone.

Limits we tell you upfront

What the results mean, and where they stop:

• Public profiles only. If an account is private, its lists can't be read.
• No history before your first scan. Changes are recorded from the day tracking starts.
• One page per scan. Each scan reads the first page of the list, in the order Instagram returns it. Instagram doesn't guarantee that this order is chronological. For profiles that follow more accounts than fit on that page, a new follow further down can appear later or be missed, and an account followed earlier can be listed as new when it first shows up on that page.
• Gender tags are estimates. On Pro, new follows get a gender guess based on first names. It can be wrong, and names it can't place are marked unknown.

How to see someone's new followers

Someone else's follower list isn't sorted by date either, so a new follower can sit anywhere in it. The tracker saves that list too, compares it on every scan and shows accounts that weren't there before, up to 200 new entries per scan. Basic and Pro both include it. Can you see someone's following list in chronological order?

Not on Instagram. You can sort your own following list by follow date, but other people's lists have no such option, and their order isn't documented as a timeline. Our look at Instagram's following list order goes through the evidence.
