Munich Trailer

My favorite spy movie is Munich, starring Eric Bana and directed and produced by Steven Spielberg.

The central theme of the film is revenge. After the murder of 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympic games in Munich, Germany, a squad of Israeli special operations forces track down and kill members of the Palestinian militant group Black September, who were responsible for the attacks.

The film was based on a true story, which makes it even more fascinating to watch.

The first part of the film, in which the Israeli athletes are taken and killed, corresponds closely with historical accounts. The second part of the movie, which depicts the Israeli government's response, has been debated a great deal by film critics and newspaper columnists.

Spielberg refers to the film's second part as "historical fiction", saying it is inspired by the actual Israeli operations which are now known as Operation Wrath of God. The film was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Picture.
