Three Days of the Condor

December 31st, 2008 by thrandur

3 Days of the Condor stars Faye Dunaway and Robert Redford!

Robert Redford becomes a hunted man after he's not among the victims of a mass murder of his colleagues. I don't want any spy materials, I love this movie because it gives you the best of both worlds. Spy factor but also chilling.

Directed by Sydney Pollack in 1975. Featuring the World Trade Center, 1970s bass lines and serious style.

The Recruit

December 29th, 2008 by thrandur

My favorite spy movie is "The Recruit." It stars Al Pacino, Colin Farrell, and Bridget Moynahan and is directed by Roger Donaldson.

The film centers around the CIA. Al Pacino is a CIA recruiter and does a fantastic job in his role. He recruits Colin Farrell who is a brilliant computer science college student. While at the recruitment camp, Farrell meets and falls in love with Moynahan. Pacino soon learns of this and uses the knowledge to exploit Farrell. The exploitation shows that a CIA agent must "never get caught" and has to restrain feelings for others.

The second part of the movie starts when Farrell and Moynahan both are now employed by the CIA. Moynahan holds a mid-level job while Farrell is stuck at a low-level one. Soon, the audience learns that both are being secretly consulted by Pacino to help extract confidential information from the CIA database. As Farrell and Moynahan's relationship deepens, they learn more about each other's involvement and discover "nothing is what it seems."

The movie has a constant building of suspense until its surprising and shocking twist ending.

One of the main spy gadgets used in the movie are microscopic recording devices. These are used by many of the characters to spy on others.

Pacino and Farrell are both very convincing in the movie and the altercation between the two create for a great thriller. The beautiful Moynahan is also very good in the movie and is very convincing in her seduction of Farrell.

"The Recruit" is a great spy thriller and I highly recommend it for anyone.

From Russia With Love – Belly Dance Scene

December 23rd, 2008 by thrandur

My favorite spy movie is unequivocally the Bond movie, From Russia With Love.

Sean Connery, in my opinion at least, defined Bond and no one else can ever compare to him in that sense. Many people find it hard to pick just one favorite Bond movie, but my favorite is From Russia with Love because it has more plot twists than Lord of the Rings but still manages to reel you in and hold onto your attention.

While I think that Terence Young does a better job directing Dr. No than From Russia With Love, it is still quite well-written and directed, and is a fantastic adaptation of Ian Flemming's original novel. And, of course, no Bond movie would be proper with a romance, and Tatiana Romanova does a brilliant job of capturing the Bond girl spirit.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith Shooting Scene

December 20th, 2008 by thrandur

John and Jane Smith being Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie play the cast as extremely skilled professional assassins who have managed to stay married for five (or six) years without realizing each other's profession. The work is top secret, fueled by a mutual sense of betrayal, as they work for rival agencies. Until the truth comes to light, as they both fail in there mission and they discover they're each other's next target. The secret life comes to a haunt. Engaged in a deadly game, John and Jane try to take each other out and learn more about each other. They decide to forgo their separate contingency plans and make their stand together as a team - defeat an extended attack by a large number of armed forces.

It's impossible to dislike this pair which paves way to intense action packed scenes The gadgets, guns, car chases and shoot-outs generate excitement. Vince Vaughn as a fast-talking fellow hit man who lives with his mother is also a well-noticeable cast in the movie. The movie is directed by Doug Liman.

Spies Like Us

December 18th, 2008 by thrandur

Spies Like Us has to be my favorite spy movie. It's great because it ruins all the suave and swagger that a spy should be. Good thing is that in its own way it has the girls, world ending scenario, gadget (mobile tech vehicle), and soviet counterparts.

The film features Chevy Chase, Dan Akroyd, Steve Forrest and Donna Dixon. Basically there are two government workers in the State Department. One guy that is overly qualified in the intelligence area but not in the social arena. (Akroyd) Another guy that has to cheat on his re-up exam to keep his job (Chase). Neither alone are particularly stellar but as a team they seem to find the right formula. They didn't have any cool gadgets other than the RV which was a mobile command center.

There is a plan to stop the Russians from Launching some missiles at the US so the government sends them as decoys for a real team. The real team goes bust and its up to them but they launch the missiles. Meet the hot girls, make love to the hot girls in a well the world is ending type deal and then miraculously save the world.

Totally 80's and totally awesome.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

December 17th, 2008 by thrandur

My favorite spy movie is Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I enjoyed that movie because it had a little bit of everything. It stars Angelina Joe Lee and Brad Pitt. They do well with each other because they seemed to have good chemistry. They are both agents for assassin companies.

They try to kill each other for a long time. eventually they find out that they like each other but their assassin companies want to try and kill them because they did not fulfill their objectives. They run from them for a while and then they get into a car chase on the high way. They are shooting and whipping around in a MINIVAN! which was awesome. Because you would not think to see that kind of thing from a minivan. after awhile they get away. They find each other surrounded by a lot of enemies and kill all of them it has a sweet ending and they had a lot of fun making the movie it seemed like.

A View To A Kill – Trailer

December 16th, 2008 by thrandur

Quite simply, the greatest spy movie ever made is 'A View To A Kill' The film is one of the many James Bond movies to have graced the silver screen - this one stars Roger Moore as 007, Christopher Walken plays Max Zorin and Grace Jones is Mayday.

Zorin is a leading French industrialist, with a secret. He is the result of a genetic experiment gone wrong. This fuels his desire to control the worlds supply of micochips, and he hatches a plan to destroy Silicon Valley by blowing up an old mine directly under a fault line running through the area. A crazy scheme for a crazy character!

Walken plays Zorin superbly well, and Grace Jones is perfectly cast as his hench woman. The locations range from Paris to San Francisco is a twisting plot line sure to keep you filled with suspense!

Get Smart – Trailer

December 12th, 2008 by thrandur

My favorite spy movie of all time would have to be Get Smart. It was cool when it was just a television episode way back in the day, but when the movie came out, all my friends and family thought it would be a good idea to go see it. It starred that guy from The Office, Steve Carrell.

I enjoyed the movie primarily because I prefer watching comedic films, and this spy movie is actually more like a spoof of all the other spy movies.

He does have really awesome gadgets, but out of all of them, my favorite one is the one that he can say anything he pleases within the closed cone that his transmitter creates, and no one can hear it but him.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith – Trailer

December 2nd, 2008 by thrandur

Starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

The story is about a husband and wife, who are both spies/secret agents but don't know about each others job, because they both lie about it. At the end, they have to kill each other and that's when they discover each others real job. It leads to a lot of hilarious moments.

The movie contains a lot of action scenes. They both use a lot of different guns and gadgets like superbinoculars and both work at high tech offices.

Besides the funny story itself, I love the action and humor in the movie.
