DVR surveillance systems can be of three different types: those that use DVR cards, those that use a DVR interface and those that use a dedicated DVR PC-based unit.

CCTV recorders can be categorized into two major groups - analog video recorders, and digital video recorders. Analog time lapse CCTV recorders are widely known as time-lapse VCR, are using standards VHS tapes to record video in extended mode. CCTV stands for closed circuit television. It is a system where the circuit is closed and all the elements are linked. CCTV security systems are now reliable, efficient and simple to use.
